A.M.E.N.A Foundation is a not-for-profit and non-political organization devoted
to helping the poor families rise out of poverty by providing specialized Shari’ah
based financing services, Health & Education Program, Housing Improvement and Water
& Sanitation Program in order to improve the quality of life in the most cost-effective
and sustainable manner.
A.M.E.N.A Foundation will perform its activities, to the best of its efforts and abilities, in the interest of the mass people regardless of race, religion, color and ethnicity. To achieve the mission this foundation shall have the following objectives:
In order to achieve the missions of the Foundation, Shari’ah Financing is the prime program component. It is implanting full-fledged Islamic Microfinance program. Microfinance program of the foundation is not simply a financial service rather it is a service to the poor woman of Bangladesh to develop not only their financial capacity but also to improve life and socio-economic status as well as alleviate poverty of the nation. This Foundation started its microfinance operation on 3rd January 2022. As of June 2024. it has 18 branches serving 14,582 entrepreneurial poor woman with 195.68 million principal portfolios. It is contributing mostly to Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Development. However, is also lending to various sectors like Trading, Cottage & Handicraft, Processing and Manufacturing and many others.
About 30% of total loan portfolio given to agriculture sector, 25% to livestock and fisheries, 20% to trading of fish/vegetable/rice/groceries etc, 8% to Cottage & Handicraft and 14% to other sectors.
Mr. Kamrul H. Tarafder is Co-Founder, President, and CEO of ASA Philippines Foundation (one of the largest MFI/NGOs in Southeast Asia and the Pacific region). Prior to ASA Philippines, he was the Team Leader Consultant of the United Nations Development Programme-Microfinance Support Project (UNDP-MSP) and Microfinance Sector Support Project (MSSP) from October 1998 until June 2004. He handled 3 projects as Team Leader Expert for the MSSP of the UNDP MicroStart Program in the Philippines. He assisted more than 25 MFIs in the Philippines by introducing the ASA system and studied around 50 MFIs throughout the country. The project was evaluated by the Consultative Group to Assist the Poorest (CGAP) and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) as the highest achievement and no. 1 among 66 implementing countries in the world.
He has extensive experience in South and Southeast Asian countries in establishing the microfinance system. He also attended many national and international seminars on microfinance in the United States, Australia, Thailand, Bangladesh, and the Philippines as a resource person. He was the Deputy General Manager and acted in various capacities with ASA Bangladesh for 11 years. In 1979, he earned a Higher Secondary Certificate from Brindaban College in Bangladesh. He finished his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Dhaka in 1988. In 2003, he earned his Master in Entrepreneurship (with distinction) at AIM, Manila. He has been honored to speak as a Resource Speaker in various international conferences of USAID, Swinburne University of Australia, Colombo Plan Staff College of the Philippines, University of Asia and the Pacific, Cambridge IFA (Islamic Fund Award) in the UK, etc.
He also successfully completed workshops in many organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Wharton University, Water.org, etc. Mr. Kamrul Tarafder is awarded by The Asset 25 with Best Gender Bond Award 2024 and “AIM Alumni Achievement Award” of the Asian Institute of Management.

Dr. Bhuyan earned MBBS from Cumilla Medical College in 1999 and finished his Master of Surgery in Cardio Vascular & Thoracic Surgery from BSMMU in 2009. He is working for Labaid Cardiac Hospital as a Senior Cardiac Surgeon since 2010.
